Our History
Parkwood United Presbyterian Church has deep roots in the North Hills community,
with a heritage that dates back more than 200 years.
Our story begins in 1806 with the organization of the Reformed Presbyterian (Covenanter) Church of Pine Creek.
The original Covenanter church building, constructed in 1837,
still stands today and serves as the home of the Depreciation Lands Museum in Hampton Township,
preserving an important part of our local history.
Parkwood United Presbyterian Church was officially established in 1962 when,
at the recommendation of the Presbytery, Allison Park Community Church and
Wildwood Presbyterian Church merged to better serve the growing community.
This union brought together two congregations with a shared commitment to worship, fellowship, and service.
On October 20, 1966, the present church building was dedicated,
creating a permanent home for ministry, outreach, and worship. Since then,
Parkwood has continued to grow as a welcoming congregation dedicated to
sharing the love of Jesus Christ through worship, mission, education, and community involvement.
Today, we honor our rich heritage while looking forward with faith,
continuing the mission of serving God and our neighbors for generations to come.
